March 2018 Reading Roundup

March 2018 Reading Roundup

At the beginning of this year, I wrote a post talking about how I wanted to start doing monthly “reading roundups.” Three months into the year, this has become a reality.

March wasn’t my best reading month. As I talked about on my personal blog, I was in California for a week. I’ve also been trying to cut down on reading to make time for other things.

Without further ado, let’s dive into my March Reading Roundup!

What did I read in March?

Read: 10 books

Classics: 3 (The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, No Promises in the Wind by Irene Hunt, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor)

Historical Fiction: 4 (The Weaver’s Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd, A Love to Come Home To by Alicia G. Ruggieri, Winning Miss Winthrop by Carolyn Miller, The Innkeeper’s Daughter by Michelle Griep)

Nonfiction: ~2 (Escape from Warsaw – based on a true story – and Economics in 1 Lesson)

Contemporary: Bound by Victoria Lynn

Favorite Book of the Month: A Love to Come Home To

Least Favorite Book of the Month: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry

Most Anticipated: The Great Gatsby

Least Anticipated: Economics in 1 Lesson (school book, haha … not sure why I even added it to Goodreads, but I did, so … yep)

This was a great month for ARCs (I read 4 – The Weaver’s Daughter, Winning Miss Winthrop, The Innkeeper’s Daughter, and Bound).

I also finally read The Great Gatsby! It was pretty awesome, but also … pointless. I can understand why it’s a classic, but on the other hand, it’s so futile. But then, what word better describes that era – the root of it, at least? A feeling of futility. I think there’s more to that book that I got in one read-through.

If you read my review of Bound, you know that I was surprised as to how much I liked it. It was truly God-inspired in many ways! Such a short book – but such an impactful message!

I have yet to review it, but Alicia G. Ruggieri’s series A Time of Grace was excellent! I finished the last book, A Love to Come Home To, in March … and just wow. Definitely some of my favorites now! (And the cover was soooo pwetty!)

TTFN!

What did you read this month? What were your favorite books? Least favorite books? Have you read any of these … and what did you think of them?
